A Trilogy of Events

A combination of three events designed to raise money and awareness for Community Animal Network, also known as C.A.N.

Join Us for a Trilogy of “Fun”raising!

DiAnna Pfaff-Martin founded Community Animal Network in 1996. She began raising awareness of the needs of local animals by writing a grassroots publication called, "The Community Animal Report" and handed it out in public places. Her publication was successful with ads placed by private parties needing to find new homes for their pets and publicizing the need for Newport Beach Shelter animal's surgeries and treatments.

Over the last ten years C.A.N. has supported the costly veterinary surgical expenses to repair ACL joints and hip surgeries in dogs and luxating patella's and eyelid reconstruction to correct a common birth defect in felines that causes discomfort with the eyelashes turning inward and rubbing on the cornea of the eye which could, if left unattended, cause blindness.

It is a common fact that people often give up their pets to animal shelters with treatable conditions that they are unable to afford. City and county tax dollars are not spent on expensive surgeries which leaves many dogs and cats often facing death. Community Animal Network is a veterinary medical rescue providing help to stray, abandoned, and "at risk" shelter animals needing new homes. Customary rescue treatments are ringworm,  mange, ear mites, worms and fleas with the most common surgery being spay/neuter prior to animals going to new homes.

With your help, Community Animal Network will have the funds available to offer continued support to local animals and  thereby eliminate their suffering and loss of life.

“Non”-Event

Support C.A.N. with a Tax Deductible Donation

We believe that the cost of attending a typical fundraising event could be better used to support the vet medical needs of local animals.

C.A.N. Programs

 “Free” Spay for Momma Cat

• helps families who didn’t spay their cat that find themselves with unwanted kittens. C.A.N. provides service for free for the momma cat and supports the veterinary needs of all the babies prior to adoption.

“Good Citizen” Rescuers

• People who find abandoned dogs and cats receive help with all the tools necessary to rescue and the vet medical is provided in exchange for housing and caring for the animal until adopted.

Death Row Shelter Rescues

Dogs and cat entering the county animal shelters risk disease and death. Shelter rescue is very costly in valuable volunteer time and funds to save “at risk” animals.

A Note From The Founder:

Our most valuable community outreach program is “Free Spay for Momma Cat” which provides veterinary medical services to the female cat at no charge to the pet-parent and finds qualified homes for the kittens with vaccinations, de-worm, de-flea, microchip and spay or neuter, along with a "30 day" health guarantee.

Each animal costs C.A.N. approximately three-hundred ($300.00) dollars to rescue and treat. Our goal is to raise fifteen-thousand ($15,000.00) directly from the "Trilogy Event".

Over twenty -thousand (20,000) adoptable dogs and cats lost their lives in Orange County animal shelters in 2007 because no one was there to rescue them. Currently, 600-900 cats and dogs a year depend on “C.A.N.” dollars. Your donation will make a difference in an animal’s life!

The purpose of our non-event is to raise funds and awareness without the traditional costs of giving a party, or attending one. We ask you to consider giving a portion of what you would have spent going to a party. We have no kennel, therefore rely on caring people opening their homes and volunteering to provide temporarily housing to cats, or dogs.

An average of two-hundred (200) calls a month are recorded on our rescue phone lines.  At this time of year we receive over three-hundred-fifty (350) calls for help a month. Our most frequent call is abandoned cats in apartment complexes that are often pregnant, or nursing.

Our ability to help callers is in direct proportion to our volunteer base, ability to find new homes and available donated dollars. Previously, the sheer volume of animals that found homes generated the funds to pay the monthly bills, but the recent housing crisis has more people giving up pets than adopting, and as predicted the economic down-turn has slowed charitable giving.

Community Animal Network needs your help. Please join us at one of the events, or give something that you can afford.

Sincerely,
