Real Stories!

I received the dreaded phone call from the shelter. The vet said that the cat is sneezing and is contagious to other cats ( as If every cat at the shelter doesn't come down with it upper respiratory!) But when I say her she was perfectly healthy - but has been sick at the shelter and had completely gotten over it.

Her perfect young life will be snuffed.. She just waits for a trip to the needle.

Real Stories!

Nobody even notices him and they walk right past to look at the tiny kittens.

This very dear kitty is so sad at the shelter. He is curled up in his litter box and is so despondent. When I called to him he just lay there staring at the wall. I opened his cage and softly pet him and he rubbed his face against my hand and then lifted his head slowly to look at me. He started to purr and then sat up in his litter box. He let out a stream of tiny mews, as if trying to tell me about his ordeal. His voice made me laugh with his tiny little meow that sounds like a kitten. He was so clearly relieved to have some human interaction. This boy must have been a very cute little kitten but now that he is a big boy, nobody wants him.

He is a really nice, loving, gentle cat who would be such a wonderful companion if only given the chance. Right now, he is probably curled up in his litter box, staring at the cold metal wall of his cage. It is as if he knows his situation is hopeless.

Real Stories!

Young White Calico Cat

This beautiful momma cat came in with two darling kittens. It was so
endearing the way they hid behind momma kitty and how even though she was
scared, she tried to be brave. She is absolutely adorable, with sparkling
green eyes, a light pink nose, very round shape and light spots of peach and
grey.
She is quiet, pensive and sweet. When I came into the room she immediately
stood up. I put my hand in her cage and she rubbed her head quietly against
my hand. The next time I saw her, they had taken her kittens and put them in
a separate cage but in the same room. She stared helplessly at the cage
across from her with her kittens meowing for her, it made me so sad.  I
talked to her and comforted her. She closed her eyes, savoring the
attention,  and for just a few minutes she forgot that she and her kittens
were in a high kill shelter.*
The next time I saw her she was in isolation with upper respiratory. She
came in the picture of health and now she had goopy eyes and a runny nose.
She was losing weight and was so depressed. She
broke my heart. I don't know what happened to her kittens.
